Business as usual?

Hands up if you think that it will be business as normal, whatever that is, on June 21st. Hospitality got another slap in the face from Boris at the end of last week just when we thought the end might be in sight and we were daring to dream, but what has really changed?

If you’re looking for certainty right now, good luck with that, it doesn’t exist. Nothing was set in stone before Boris led his latest press briefing, and nothing is afterwards. The only thing that I can tell you with absolute certainty is that if you don’t have all of your ducks in a row when you can open again then one of your competitors will and you’ll miss a big opportunity. An opportunity to hit the ground running and not look back.

Anyone with a hospitality business that’s weathered the storm this far must have faith that they will be able to open up again, otherwise they would, quite rightly, have thrown in the towel by now. Nobody could blame them for doing that at some point in the last eighteen months! Those of us that are still here need to really go for it, right?

In the book that I recently published, Winning in Hospitality: Footfall on Tap, I use the example two businesses that I know, both of which are planning to launch when they can. One is doing everything, literally throwing the kitchen sink at their opening. The other business is being so cautious that they have done practically nothing yet, their website isn’t even live. Now, you’d need to be extremely confident and have deep pockets to be doing absolutely everything for a new launch right now, but the point is if you’re doing nothing whatsoever you’ll have to have even deeper pockets, you’re planning to fail.

For less than the cost of a daily Cappuccino we can help you plan your re-launch by making digital marketing simple. We’ll give you the tools you need to promote your business and show how to do the simple things consistently and well and in fact you’ll get the first month for just £2, with no long term commitment.
